The starting salary for fresh R&D graduates is 30K.
There is a dormitory (if you live more than 40 km from the company, you only need to pay 3K).
The office environment is fairly decent, although it leaks badly whenever it rains.
*The company does contract manufacturing, but factory management is chaotic, so its cost structure is often far worse than that of the factories in Guangdong. Document management is
careless as well, so sometimes a project comes to a standstill when the person previously responsible for it leaves.
*The latest news I heard is that all employees were placed on unpaid leave and transferred to China to open accounts and receive their salaries in RMB.
As a result, even though they clearly work in Taiwan, they have no labor relationship with the company.
*The computers provided by the company are extremely poor; it is practically impossible to work with complex files.
Everyone brings their own computer, but the company will not let you install its licensed software.
If you install pirated software to do your work, the company will even ask you to sign a statement accepting full responsibility for the consequences.
*Part of the company’s R&D capability consists of buying competitors’ products, stripping them for parts, and then
asking designers to draw a casing for them to exhibit at trade shows. They even send these machines to customers—truly audacious.
*Although most of the employees are young, the company culture makes everyone seem dispirited and lifeless.
*A presentation must be held once every three months. A lot of work is often produced at the last minute merely for management and shareholders to see, disrupting the development process.
