The job description sounds very appealing, but the reality is vastly different once you actually start. Every morning begins with manual labor, such as moving soil or scrubbing a pile of dishes, followed by harvesting plants continuously until the end of the workday. The harvesting is timed, and you are required to meet a certain quota. If you consistently fail to reach it, you will feel pressure from the owner’s wife, and if you cannot improve, you may be asked to leave. In order to meet the quota every day, you are hardly free for even a moment except when eating, drinking water, or using the restroom. Every day feels like repetitive assembly-line work, harvesting plants over and over. The most criticized aspect is that you have to record how much time you spend on every single task each day. Naturally, if you are too slow, you will be reminded. The owner’s wife is extremely meticulous about calculating employees’ work efficiency. This job is acceptable as a part-time position, but as a full-time job, it offers little in the way of prospects.
