I worked here as a graphic designer for nearly two years and chose to resign due to my personal career plans and family circumstances.
1. The owner and their family are genuinely very nice, warm, and courteous, and they occasionally give small gifts.
2. You have freedom in your design style. Once you understand the owner’s preferences, you’ll actually receive support for expressing your creativity however you like.
3. You use an iMac with a large, color-accurate monitor, which is genuinely great for serious design work, and a graphics tablet is provided. If you truly need something for work, you can bring it up and discuss it with them; within reasonable limits, they are willing to provide it.
4. The work is diverse: photography and product-staging shoots, branding photos, packaging, brand collaboration products, graphic design, online-store work, customized products, and much more. You can work in many different styles and build practical experience in various areas, making the job interesting and rewarding. Sometimes you may also handle Facebook posts and creating images for them, although there has been discussion that someone else may take over this part in the future.
The younger owner is in their 30s, easy to communicate with, and also comes up with quite a few ideas.
5. Basically, as long as you work conscientiously and follow a reasonable daily schedule, they won’t rush you. However, remember to report your progress at appropriate times so they know what you’re working on. (The owners have a lot to handle, after all. Writing a simple daily work report also helps you know where you left off the next day.)
6. There is no overtime. Occasionally, if something urgent comes up, the younger owner will discuss overtime with you, and overtime pay is provided.
7. Meals are provided. Sometimes it’s a boxed meal, and sometimes the owner’s wife cooks. The boxed meals aren’t the kind with just inexpensive side dishes and rice—they include a tasty main dish. This really saves money and time!
8. There is a salary adjustment every year, and the job is stable.
9. I’ve also agreed to come back to help with the handover and fully explain everything to the next person, so you won’t feel completely lost, haha xD
I’ll add more if anything else comes to mind.
1. It’s a factory environment and not air-conditioned all the time (the air conditioning is turned on in summer), which some people may find difficult to accept. The younger owner actually wants to improve this, though. During my time there, they added an office cabinet, an L-shaped office desk, shelving, a meeting table, and so on.
2. Every few months, everyone in the company, including the owner’s family, has to help unload a shipping container. It takes about half a day, although the office staff mainly provide assistance.
3. It’s an industry related to weddings, so the year-end bonus may not be particularly generous, but it is always provided, and salaries are never paid late.
I’ll add more if anything else comes to mind.
