The workplace is in the East District, making it convenient to go shopping after work.
In the past, the bonuses were very generous. It was possible for the top three salespeople to receive NT$100,000–200,000 in bonuses per month, and even salespeople with mid-range rankings generally received at least NT$50,000. However, the bonus system was changed repeatedly, eventually resulting in the entire home-delivery department being eliminated and merged with the Life Mall division. You did more work but received less. Overall, though, the compensation for sales staff was still considered quite good by industry standards.
The base salary for a regular salesperson was approximately NT$25,000 plus bonuses.
For a junior manager overseeing sales staff, it was approximately NT$35,000 plus bonuses.
I left some time ago, so I’m not sure what the bonus system is like now. However, the bonus structure was open and transparent, so people who wanted to work in sales simply had to rely on their own abilities.
The pressure in the sales department is not a drawback—what job offering the chance to earn large bonuses doesn’t come with significant pressure? However, department managers would hold up employees’ cases based on personal likes and dislikes, which was completely unacceptable. The bonus system was frequently changed, providing employees with no security: you did more work but received less. Hardly any salespeople could stay on, and eventually the entire home-delivery department was eliminated. What felt especially bad was that employees were told to leave on the very same day. It was a terrible experience!
