The office is very presentable.
Let me get straight to the point:
I am an employee of the company, and I strongly do not recommend that anyone join this company. Unless you feel that the compensation this company offers you is much higher than what other companies offer, staying at this company is simply a waste of your time.
Company background:
This is a blockchain company established in Taiwan by a mainland Chinese gaming and gambling group. The company’s background is very complicated, yet it only tells job candidates that it is a Singaporean startup. It currently has offices in Taiwan, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Singapore, with the Taiwan office primarily focused on development. There are approximately 30 people in Taiwan at present, fewer than 10 of whom are R&D personnel, yet the office can accommodate more than 200 people. These figures reveal many unusual aspects.
About the boss:
As an employee of the company, I still do not know the chairman’s or CEO’s real names. This may be because of the company’s gaming and gambling background; they are highly secretive and low-profile. The senior management known to date are all from mainland China. Senior management members are almost entirely from outside the relevant professional fields, resulting in many chaotic instances of nonexperts leading experts, and they do not know how to respect professional expertise. If you want to win the boss’s favor, besides pretending to work obsessively long hours, you must also have very strong political maneuvering skills.
Working hours:
The boss requires employees to routinely work overtime until 9 p.m. and also work on Saturdays—what is commonly known as 996—but provides no overtime pay, clearly violating the Labor Standards Act. Unless you can obtain better compensation than at other companies, under these working hours, with no overtime pay and no equity or stock options, you are merely a slave.
Company products:
The product the company has launched so far is 1SG, a Singapore dollar stablecoin (similar to the USDT U.S. dollar stablecoin). In the blockchain industry, this is not a new concept. It will subsequently launch apps such as a software wallet and cryptocurrency market-price information, but these are also copies of existing products and offer nothing original.
Personal assessment:
If you come to interview with the company, do not be blinded by the beautiful and impressive office. The boss is extremely stingy in every respect: there is no overtime pay, employees are not allowed to take annual leave, there is no year-end party, there is no money for snacks, and year-end bonuses are not paid in accordance with labor contracts, among many other problems. This is not a startup trying to create new products; it is a Taiwan-based blockchain company under a gaming and gambling group. If you are a vendor considering working with Mars, you should be much stricter in reviewing the contract. Do not assume that the company is financially strong. In addition to being stingy with employees, the company also exploits its business partners.
