安華機電工程股份有限公司
Pros

1. The company atmosphere is good, and most colleagues and supervisors are easy to get along with (although it may vary depending on the department or the individual).

2. Working hours are stable, and overtime is not required (except in technical departments, where engineers frequently need to travel, both domestically and internationally). Paid leave is also easy to take, making the company very suitable for primary family caregivers (except in technical departments!!).

3. Clients are mostly well-known large companies or government agencies. For “technical staff,” in addition to enhancing their professional skills, the job also makes it easier to build a professional network (which is why many young engineers eventually jump ship to those clients QQ). People in other departments are less likely to experience this benefit.

4. The environment is good. The company is located in Nangang Software Park Phase I, and considering Nangang, the lunch options nearby are very, very good. The company pantry has various tea bags and a coffee machine for employees, and from time to time, visiting vendors or colleagues returning from trips buy local specialties to share with everyone. This is a major plus for food lovers.

5. Everything complies with the Labor Standards Act (these days, even complying with the Labor Standards Act can be considered an advantage ˊ_>ˋy-~). Whenever the law introduces new requirements, the company implements them immediately in accordance with the law. In short, the company is very straightforward: it does not withhold anything it is supposed to provide, and it seems very afraid of breaking the law XD

※ Additional note: In 2016, the company was registered as being in violation of regulations (it originally did not have a time-clock system; even before that, however, the company did not deduct overtime pay from you simply because there was no time clock—if you applied for overtime pay, you would receive it). It immediately installed a time clock afterward and, in accordance with the law, also established one of those labor-representative committees.

Cons

1. Opportunities for raises and promotions are very limited. Unless there is a special adjustment, raises only happen when the company makes money, at which point everyone’s monthly salary is increased by a few hundred dollars. However, ever since I joined the company three or four years ago, it seems that it has not really made much money, so… well. As for special adjustments, it depends on whether you have (X) the opportunity (O) favor with your supervisors. The increase from a special adjustment is definitely higher than a regular raise, but only a small number of people receive one. For those without that kind of opportunity, company-wide raises offer at least some chance.

2. Young employees have relatively high turnover. Basically, the senior employees at the company are people who joined from TECO and its affiliated business groups back in the day, so they are more stable and have very low turnover. However, it is genuinely harder for younger newcomers to stay for long. Most leave after anywhere from one to five years. The reason may have more to do with the salary (and engineers are also more likely to be recruited away by clients).
