Generally, you leave and arrive at work on time.
There is an overseas travel subsidy of NT$8,000 in the first year.
There are employee trips and a perfect-attendance bonus.
Salary structure: perfect-attendance bonus of NT$2,000 (you can miss clocking in or out once at most) + lunch subsidy + base salary.
There are no annual salary increases—no annual salary increases!!!!
So pay attention when negotiating your salary: the department as a whole has only a 3% salary adjustment budget, and only certain people actually get an increase.
An ordinary engineer (monthly salary of NT$38,000–45,000) reportedly gets an additional NT$3,000–5,000 per month upon promotion to senior engineer. New graduates can go for the interview; there is training. However, for people with three to five years of experience, I recommend looking elsewhere.
In my colleague’s case: drawing design plans, subcontracting, QC, pressure testing, and everything through to shipping all have to be handled independently.
Once you can work independently, be prepared for your supervisor to treat you like a “super engineer” (without paying you any more).
They only earn NT$40,000; even a subcontractor said they would add NT$10,000 if he came to work for them.
The company also parachutes in many people from outside. If you want to stay longer and get promoted, you may have to cling tightly to certain people’s coattails.
