Pros

The office environment is good.

Cons

I don’t live in Taipei, so I had to take the high-speed rail, transfer to the MRT, and then walk (in the rain, too) to get to the company for the interview.

The company first gave me 20 minutes to complete an Excel task. After that, the interviewer came in, glanced at the Excel file once, and asked, “Is this difficult?” She did not examine it in detail afterward.

She then began asking questions that clearly showed she had not looked at my résumé, such as, “What did you do before?”

She also asked questions that were completely unrelated to my area of expertise, such as, “Where did you live when you were abroad?”

At one point during the interview, another company employee even opened the meeting-room door, walked in, and spoke with the interviewer.

From beginning to end, the interviewer never introduced herself, the company, or the responsibilities of the position.

Afterward, the interviewer asked whether I had any questions. I asked a few, and the interview ended there. The entire interview lasted less than an hour, including the time I spent completing the Excel task.

I had a very poor impression of this interview and cannot understand why the company invited me to interview without having looked at my résumé at all. The interview did not address the job description, nor did the interviewer show any questions about or interest in my skill set.

I hope the company can be considerate of the time and effort candidates spend traveling to interviews and take recruitment seriously. Candidates spend time and money traveling to the company for an interview, but is the company unwilling to spend even 10 minutes reviewing a candidate’s résumé?

Finally, my advice to anyone planning to interview at this company is: if you live nearby, you could go to gain interview experience; but if you live farther away, you may want to think carefully about whether it is worth going.
