The first time, they simply asked me to come in to fill out some forms. The second time was an interview with the Japanese HR manager, conducted in Japanese; the interview was not particularly difficult.
The salary was too low: NT$32,000, including a perfect-attendance bonus of NT$2,000 and overtime pay of NT$2,000.
During the interview, I asked the Japanese manager why they had come to Taiwan and whether they had any business in Taiwan. They said that they were also expanding into Southeast Asia because the headquarters in Japan was understaffed. They currently had no business in Taiwan, but might take on business in Taiwan in the future. However, I personally felt that they were probably just trying to reduce costs.
