Position: Taipei Branch — Class Tutor
An absolutely terrible company. They constantly try to get new employees to refer their younger siblings, relatives, or friends who are currently attending vocational high school. If you refuse, they find an excuse to fire you.
There is also no break time to eat! They tell you to buy food and eat it back at the office. You are not allowed to eat outside!
Also, during the interview, I asked whether having no cram-school experience would be a problem.
They replied that it was fine and that every new employee would be guided by a “senior” colleague.
Once I officially started, they just left me sitting there. They taught me nothing, ignored me when I asked questions, and said they were too busy when I asked whether there was anything I could help with. In the end, they blamed me for not helping.
Eventually, someone did train me, but when I asked how long that colleague had been working there, I found out they had only recently started too. Is that what they call being guided by a “senior” colleague???
They did not even know what day salaries were paid.
And there is more. When I first arrived, they gave me a set of higher-education materials for engineering-related fields and told me to memorize them, saying I belonged to the engineering track. But the next day, they asked me, “Have you memorized the business-track materials?” When I asked, “Wasn’t I responsible for the engineering track?”, they actually replied, “No, you’re in the business track.” WTF??? Are they treating people like monkeys and messing with them???
The funniest part was when I asked about next month’s schedule. They kept saying they would make the schedule, but when the first of the next month arrived, they still had not scheduled me. They even told me, “If possible, don’t take any days off.”
Finally, there was what happened on my last day. A senior colleague told me to spend the entire day making phone calls and just finish the admissions calls.
Then, shortly before the end of the workday, my supervisor called me to the back.
“I don’t think you’re suitable for this job because I’ve noticed that you haven’t been interacting with the students.”
WTF????? You told me to sit at my desk and make phone calls all day, and then said I wasn’t interacting with the students?????
Then they told me to resign. At that point, I thought, “I can’t take this anymore anyway,” so I resigned immediately.
After I left, when I received my pay, I do not know whether they underpaid me or made random deductions here and there. In any case, I worked for six days, and they only transferred NT$2,300 to me—less than NT$400 per day on average, which was even less than an hourly worker’s pay. In any event, I did not want to have anything more to do with them.
In short, I’m sharing my experience of working there for one week as a reference for everyone.
