The job bank listing stated that there was a comprehensive performance evaluation system, with regular individual performance reviews serving as the basis for salary adjustments, bonus payments, and future promotions, and that the company valued talent development and training. In reality, however, the supervisor responded: [“You do roughly the same things every day, so why should we give you a raise?”] There was no such thing as a pay raise at all. What was written on the job bank was a lie.

When I asked whether the company provided year-end bonuses and gifts for the three major festivals, the response was: “You haven’t even joined yet, so why should I tell you?” Later, she said: “It depends on your performance. If your performance is poor, why should the company give you a year-end bonus?” The gifts for the three major festivals were simply vouchers for Carrefour.
