2. When I entered the office, the employees were chatting quite happily with one another. The work atmosphere seemed pretty good.

1. I had already filled out the information on a computer at home the day before and had replied to confirm that I would attend the interview as scheduled. I arrived on time for the interview, but the two receptionists repeatedly asked for my name and the position I was interviewing for, as if they had no idea that someone had scheduled an interview.

2. The meeting room was small, and the receptionists asked me to sit in a spot where opening the door from outside would hit my chair. When I asked to change seats, they refused on the grounds that “the seat I requested was the supervisor’s seat.” It gave the impression that they had excellent manners and were very particular about rules.

3. The supervisor came in with a specialist to conduct the interview. As soon as the supervisor entered, they asked me to introduce myself. Then, while flipping through the information I had already filled out, the supervisor asked the specialist whether I had submitted my résumé myself or had been matched through the system. After exchanging a few words and asking one question, the supervisor told the specialist to go outside. When the specialist came back in, only the specialist remained.

The interviewing supervisor was extremely disrespectful to the interviewee. In addition, I had been proactively matched by the job bank rather than having submitted my résumé myself, and I came at the company’s invitation to interview. Is it really so difficult to review the résumé or the information form I filled out beforehand, or at least understand the situation in advance?

Overall, it was an extremely poor interview experience (probably the worst interview experience among the dozen or so companies I have interviewed with during this job search). Those considering interviewing for a position in this company’s accounting department may want to think it over.
