The restaurant staff are easy to get along with

They advertised the position as a sales assistant.

1. The main job is to work as front-of-house staff at one of the affiliated restaurants. They say this is to learn about restaurant operations and tell you not to worry about staying at the restaurant for long; however, employees are expected to know how to cook and provide support when necessary.

2. They recruit volunteers on behalf of an association, but do not provide students with service hours.

3. The company believes that the job of sales staff is to help its affiliated restaurants make money. It does virtually no marketing, yet rejects all proposals from sales staff—the boss makes every decision.

4. The company’s systems are poor, and restaurant quality control is inadequate. Some food is still sold to customers after its expiration date. They seem to believe freezing solves everything, cooking dishes into semi-finished products and then storing them in a freezer. The food is prepared at room temperature, with no sterilization equipment and no production dates displayed. (The meal a customer eats could have been made last week!)

5. The kitchens at the affiliated restaurants have poor hygiene. (Chefs taste food directly from the spatula, rinse it only with water, and then return to cooking; kitchen staff do not wear masks or hairnets.)

6. The restaurant promotes itself as a social welfare initiative, saying that all profits are donated to social welfare organizations. However, the organization is a company-related entity. Can this really be considered charitable?

7. Senior management promotes I Ching philosophy and believes that sales staff must also understand and promote it.
