Leaving work on time
This company is a family business. The heads of RD and Sales are the boss’s own people, but they counterbalance each other.
What they have in common is that the managers never promote or give employees raises. The RD manager is relatively better. Although they lack technical ability, do not improve, and have a complete mess of the network architecture and firewall policies, they can still criticize others. To be honest, however, they strongly support their own employees.
The Sales manager is incompetent, with no sales skills, no understanding of relationship-building, no negotiation skills, and no idea how to manage a sales team. However, the Sales manager understands the boss and knows what will make the boss happy, so the Sales team has a miserable time and high turnover.
Compared with the RD manager, the Sales manager is refined and polite, but sinister and crafty. The boss is the kind of person who draws up grand promises but never delivers the promised rewards.
They often flatter the boss in public.
But no matter how much people complain about the company, or how capable someone is at improving this environment, nothing works because it is a family business.
The heads of the other departments are more like an administrative affairs team for the boss and the boss’s wife; employees are treated like household servants.
One advantage of the company is that the employees have good relationships with one another, because the environment is difficult and all the busy work involves handling internal problems.
RD salaries are fairly decent. Sales staff cannot receive bonuses. I heard FEA employees start at NT$26,000 and have never received a raise, working themselves to the bone.
The entire company atmosphere has been reduced to internal friction.
Don’t be fooled by how beautiful the office looks; this company is terrifying.
