Cons

Nominally a French company, but managed entirely by Taiwanese people.

Nearly half of the company's shares are held by the Uni-President Group,

so it is merely a French shell with a Taiwanese core.

Benefits and salaries follow those of Taiwan—the “ghost island”—or are even worse.

Carrefour has ranked first for violating Taiwan's Labor Standards Act for several consecutive years.

Yet a bunch of employees still take pride in working for a French company.

At Carrefour, there are limits on the number of part-time employees who can be promoted to full-time positions.

I have seen people who have worked there for several years still remaining part-time employees.

Those who have a poor relationship with the department manager also remain part-time employees indefinitely.

Carrefour also frequently exploits on-site personnel and merchandising staff.

They are guaranteed to be worked to exhaustion during major holidays.

If they do not follow the department manager's instructions, they may be reported,

or be transferred, dismissed, or have the department manager refuse to place orders.

Vendors do not receive Carrefour salaries, yet they are still pressured into working for free.
