Off-hours
Annual salary: 12 months + bonus; less than 13 months
Working hours: 08:30–17:30
Year-end bonus: The year-end bonus and three holiday bonuses depend on the boss’s mood
Job responsibilities: Circuit design + programming + product manufacturing scheduling
Thoughts:
Lunch is provided by a catering service, with NT$50 deducted per meal
Project schedules are compressed to the limit; they will cite the “responsibility system” and expect you to work overtime until everything is finished
When a typhoon hits and a disaster-prevention leave day is declared, they will still claim that the hourly system applies (unpaid)
Overtime can offset being late that day; no overtime pay
Holiday overtime can be exchanged for compensatory leave; no overtime pay
During the interview, they mentioned an annual salary guaranteed for 14 months, but that was not actually the case
The RD department only has alternative-service R&D personnel, and turnover in the department is very high. Most engineers in the department are responsible for two different areas of expertise, such as hardware + firmware, computer software + Android, or iOS + web development
