The atmosphere among colleagues is good. Overtime or compensatory leave follows the Labor Standards Act. Typhoon days off are granted. There is a perfect attendance bonus. Uniforms are not required. The environment is simple and uncomplicated.
There are no benefits; there are no bonuses or company trips for the three major holidays.
The year-end bonus is usually only about one month’s salary.
There are almost no salary increases, no matter how long your tenure.
The starting salary is low (NT$24,000–25,000); master’s degree holders earn NT$1,000 more than bachelor’s degree holders.
The workload is heavy, and overtime is common.
Most supervisors live in their own worlds.
Editors have many business-related duties in addition to editing work.
They exploit employees relentlessly and do not try to retain them; there will always be more cheap new hires anyway.
