1. The company says it provides meals, but the food is basically kitchen waste. I’ve been given spoiled, sour-smelling food. Even when it’s inedible, you’re not allowed to go out and buy something else—you can only go hungry.
2. There are no breaks. As soon as you finish eating, you have to get back to work.
3. They don’t pay overtime. It’s a responsibility-based system, but each person is given so much work that it’s impossible to finish, meaning overtime is inevitable.
4. You have to bring your own stationery. Otherwise, the office supplies are unbearably poor, and requests for replacements aren’t approved anyway. Long-term employees will directly advise you to bring your own.
5. Even when a typhoon day has officially been declared a work and school closure day, the boss says that if there’s no wind or rain, everyone should continue working. As soon as it starts raining—even without wind—the boss leaves. You still have to make up the workday after clocking out at the officially designated closure time. (You’ll even be mocked: “Are you really going straight home?”)
There are so many outrageous things that it’s impossible to list them all.
