明台產物保險股份有限公司
Pros

A large company with an impressive presence and a pleasant environment.

Cons

1. Unprofessional and impolite internal staff:

The day before the second interview, which had been scheduled in advance, I received a call from a woman at the company. In a rather unpleasant tone, she questioned me: “XXX, you know you have an interview scheduled with us today, right?”

I replied: “Huh? Sorry, it’s not today—it’s the day after tomorrow.” (??? Endless question marks in my mind ???)

The woman said: “But HR said it was today!!”

I said: “HR and I scheduled it for the day after tomorrow over the phone, and the interview notification I subsequently received by email clearly stated that the date was the day after tomorrow.”

The woman said: “But our supervisor has already set aside time for today!”

Me: “Uh... but we scheduled it for the day after tomorrow...” (Thinking: Are you serious? Do you not understand plain English!? I rolled my eyes countless times.)

The woman said: “Oh...okay, then I’ll tell our supervisor again.”

She hung up on me immediately after saying that.

What the...? Even if your internal staff simply miscommunicated, why misunderstand someone else and not even say a word of apology or “sorry”? Instead, I was the one who said sorry = = My impression of the company dropped instantly. But there was nothing I could do—job seekers are in the weaker position, so I still had to obediently go to the interview QQ

2. The job responsibilities mentioned in the first and second interviews differed enormously:

I’m too lazy to go into detail. In short, the main duties described in the first interview might have been A+B, but in the second interview they suddenly became A+B+C+D. Most outrageous of all, it turned out to be a management position!!?? These are important details that should have been made clear during the first interview, yet they were not mentioned at all......

By the end, I no longer wanted to continue with the interview and only wanted to go home.

They completely wasted my time. On top of that, after being irritated by that woman the day before, I blew up on the spot and gave the three interviewers in front of me a piece of my mind.

I could not feel any of the professionalism or rigor they claimed to have as a Japanese company—there was only one word for it: ridiculous!!!
