Cons

Let me describe what it was like working there about a year ago. The online marketing supervisor had very little ability and only knew how to suck up to the boss.

When someone made a more constructive proposal, they were instead mocked with, “Then why don’t you be the supervisor(?)” Employees weren’t allowed to be late, but when the supervisor was late, they could just suck up to the boss and get away with it (What the hell is this?). When it came to event proposals, the boss overturned everyone’s ideas in the end anyway—the boss had the final say (Then why did we spend time coming up with proposals and plans? In the end, everything was just dictated from above.)

During the interview, everything sounded great. They mentioned things like year-end bonuses and bonuses for the three major holidays, but after joining, these became KPIs—and extremely difficult-to-achieve KPIs at that (just like another reviewer said). Even more outrageous, the boss used this money to buy a three-wheeled sports car. I remember a former coworker saying that revenue from the pet expo in previous years had been very good, so the boss gave everyone a 5,000 bonus. Afterward, though, the boss said it seemed like too much, and the bonuses got smaller and smaller over the following years. I heard they eventually stopped giving them altogether (clearly, employees weren’t valued as important assets). Then, for the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, they gave out a rice dumpling and a mooncake, yet we were expected to thank the boss as if he were a god for his charity.

In summary: I honestly think that if the products weren’t good and the retail stores didn’t project such a positive image, you might imagine that a pet-supplies company would be warm and welcoming, with great coworkers. But in reality, it was extremely dark. Luckily, as soon as I saw the warning signs, I got out as quickly as I could.
