During the interview, the staff explained that the business assistant's duties are complex but still within an acceptable range. Working hours are from 8:00 to 17:30, but employees are required to arrive 15 minutes early to clean the premises. The end of the workday is also not necessarily 17:30; employees must wait until all store-related tasks are finished and ask their supervisor whether they may leave before they can get off work. There is also no full lunch break. If customers arrive, employees must handle them first. Although a meal allowance is provided, employees are required to order boxed lunches together with company colleagues most of the time. The leave system also does not comply with the Labor Standards Act: the company operates on an every-other-week two-day-off system, and the six days off per month are not paid as overtime for rest days. There is also no compensatory leave or double pay for national holidays.
