During the interview, the store manager was very patient and reminded me of the correct procedures.

Interview experience for an interior design assistant position:

A distributor of HCG (HCG Sanitary Ware) in Hsinchu, located on Guangfu Road.

At the beginning of the interview, I had to fill out the company’s standard application form. It had a lot of fields asking me to list certificates and professional training courses.

After I finished filling out the form, I waited nearly 20 minutes before the store manager came to interview me. During the wait, the store was very quiet, with only the sound of keyboard typing.

(I probably waited there for 20 minutes because I didn’t proactively notify them after finishing the form.)

Because I was a recent graduate with no work experience, the store manager looked at my application form and asked:

1. Why did you want to learn AutoCAD?

2. Why do you want to work as an interior design assistant?

3. Next, I was given two sheets of blank paper and asked to draw an elevation and a top-view floor plan of the kitchen cabinets in the store.

The store manager was very nice and explained how to take basic measurements and roughly how to draw the floor plan.

After 30 minutes, I switched to a laptop and used AutoCAD to create a DWG file. I only had 15 minutes to draw the DWG file.

The store manager was very helpful again and explained how to draw this type of plan more quickly.

4. The owner then conducted the interview. He did not have any particular requirements for employees. The hiring decision was probably up to the store manager?

5. The owner’s wife then conducted the interview. She only required employees to have a fast typing speed and to fit two identical forms onto one A4 sheet when photocopying.

The store manager was kind enough to remind me how to do it more quickly.

Job duties: Cleaning the store, greeting customers, entering orders, and drawing interior design floor plans.

It felt like an interior design graduate should be able to get the hang of this job very quickly.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:00; Saturday, 8:30–17:30

　　　　　Closed on Sundays; four days off per month (taking Mondays off to create a long weekend is prohibited).

The two-day weekend stated on the job bank website is false; the actual system is scheduled days off.

Compensation: Not stated. I asked for NT$25,000, and the owner said that salary would be fine after I became proficient.

However, the owner repeatedly emphasized that the starting salary would be lower at first and would only be increased after the probationary period.

Therefore, the starting salary during the probationary period must be lower than NT$25,000. Thanks, but no thanks.
