Pros

Large, clean store space

Cons

Interview experience for a store assistant position at the Hsinchu Qianshan Water Purification branch:

I received a call from HR at the head office inviting me to an interview the following afternoon.

When I went to the store the next afternoon and said I had an interview appointment, the store manager and employees looked confused.

The receptionist even looked annoyed and asked me harshly, “Who told you to come?”

Including me, three people had been invited to interview that afternoon (it felt like HR at the head office was randomly contacting people).

After filling out the company’s standard form, the store manager called us over to explain the job duties and compensation together, followed by a brief interview.

The only interview questions were what I did at my previous job and why I left.

Since I was a recent graduate, the store manager only asked me questions related to my field of study.

Job duties: Entering orders, serving customers in the store, scheduling repair routes for maintenance engineers, and calling former customers in the evening.

Working hours: 12:30–21:30, with four days off scheduled per month (consecutive days off are not allowed).

However, employees have to wait for the engineers to return to the store and submit their receipts, so work usually ends after 22:00.

There is no overtime pay for the time spent waiting for engineers to return to the store.

Compensation: Base salary of NT$27,000 + NT$1,000–3,000 in profit-sharing bonuses, with the monthly salary paid in two installments.

The probationary period is three months; after passing it, the salary increases by NT$1,000, with another NT$1,000 increase after one year.

Interview result: No response.
