The two interviewers asked detailed questions and explained the challenges and difficulties the position would involve. It seems they genuinely want to find a good employee.
(This is based on my own experience during the interview)
1. The questions at the beginning were fine, but when it came to salary, the applicant was made to feel very uncomfortable. First, they said that I had only demonstrated one design style in my portfolio (a portfolio is supposed to contain the work you personally like, and you do not have to include everything, but this was interpreted as meaning that I only know one design style). The boss fixated on this point (that my design style was too narrow) and said that the design industry in Taiwan could only be described as a “miserable” industry, so salaries would not be very high. (The boss thus put on an expression suggesting that the overall environment was simply like this and there was nothing they could do, saying they could only offer this price.) They even confidently insisted that this was what the market was like if I looked around elsewhere.
2. After that, they digressed further, bringing up the government and so on, as well as factory environmental impact assessments (bringing current events into the discussion?), and said that these problems could only be left to time and God’s will (pointing upward). Haha, during the interview they mentioned God at least three times. Although personal religious beliefs are a matter of individual freedom, this was a job interview... To someone with traditional religious beliefs, it sounded a little... strange.
