Transportation shuttles and accommodation are available as options, but you have to ask; HR will not proactively tell you.
There are 10-minute breaks in both the morning and afternoon (this is both an advantage and a disadvantage: the advantage is that you can openly rest by lying down; the disadvantage is that some managers force employees to rest only during the designated break times, and leaving your seat at other times will be scrutinized).
Lunch is provided. Employees who do not eat can use the allowance to purchase fruit and snacks.
The employees do not seem very happy, and they do not dare to speak freely. Everyone is very guarded when talking, and you often hear people saying things like “Be grateful to Ga Mi” and “Praise Ga Mi.” The entire company has a repressive atmosphere. The benefits are good, but turnover is extremely high. Many senior employees say that although the company offers the benefits of an American company, because of the Taiwanese-style management, many benefits are only there to be seen and cannot actually be enjoyed; they even become a burden. For example, a coffee machine, which should be a basic amenity in an ordinary company, is often out of coffee beans here. If you go to another floor to get coffee because supplies are unavailable, you may even receive dirty looks. The atmosphere among employees is even stranger. Many managers started from entry-level positions and have seniority but insufficient ability. They want to use capable employees to assist them, yet fear that their own abilities will be overshadowed. There are countless cases of highly educated and experienced employees being forced out soon after joining the company under various pretexts. There are many training sessions and new-hire presentations, but the evaluation criteria depend entirely on the manager’s mood. There are also many senior employees who lack ability but like to provoke others, which reminds me of a group of puppies that are terrified their bones will be snatched away.
It seems to regard TSMC as a competitor, but it is far behind... HR also treats you differently depending on your department; when they hear that you are a U-town employee, their attitude becomes much better.
“Advice for fresh graduates”: This job can give you a high starting salary, but if you stay for more than a year, you will basically be brainwashed and assimilated. You will develop a timid personality that will be detrimental to your future career.
“Advice for experienced job seekers”: Experienced job seekers are easily ostracized at this company. They may even use many unreasonable rules to convince you that you are useless, so think carefully before joining.
