For the portion of the assignment in Lagos, Nigeria, the colleagues are easy to get along with. Working hours are relatively long, and the workload can sometimes be heavy, but there is no overtime pay. The company takes care of employees’ meals, accommodation, and daily necessities. The area is basically safe. When traveling long distances, armed police will accompany the vehicle as an armed escort. On holidays, you can ask the company to arrange transportation to go to the mall with a few other people, but this must be discussed with the company. During periods when public safety is somewhat poor, employees may be prohibited from going out. The internet connection is poor. You can find someone to help purchase a 4G SIM card, but it is still not fast. However, some colleagues play League of Legends and seem to have no major problems; watching or downloading videos is difficult. Nigeria’s power supply is unstable, with power outages every day. The company and residences have generators, which are operated whenever there is a power outage on weekdays. On holidays, however, the generators need to rest for several hours. During that time, if municipal power is available, it can be used; if not… read a book or stare into space, I suppose.
