Pros

The turnover rate is extremely high, so you can quickly get to know different people.

Cons

Position applied for: Assistant (The company likes hiring recent graduates because they are inexpensive and easy to control.)

Monthly salary: NT$28,000

Bonus: Depends on the boss’s mood (During the interview, they promised an exaggerated bonus of 2–5 months’ salary, but according to colleagues, it is at most 1.5 months—and you have to work there for at least 2–3 years to receive it.)

Benefits: None

Working hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Overtime required: A large amount of overtime is constantly required, often until 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. Even if you work hard to finish everything quickly, the boss still cares about what time you leave. If you leave before 7:00 p.m., the boss will make it clear through their actions that they are unhappy.

Overtime pay: A NT$80 meal allowance is provided for work past 8:00 p.m.

Age range of colleagues: Generally young

Work atmosphere: Very poor (The boss is highly emotional and will yell at people when in a bad mood, sometimes even throwing things. In this atmosphere, the colleagues are not very even-tempered either.)

Turnover rate: Extremely high (The position has been listed on recruitment websites forever. Colleagues come and go so frequently that you can barely remember their names.)

Here is my actual experience working there:

During the interview and at first, the boss and colleagues treated you well. Once you had been there for more than two weeks and they were fairly sure you would not leave, they began to show their true colors. You were expected to work independently without anyone training you. When mistakes occurred, not only did you receive no help, you were also mocked by colleagues and harshly scolded by the boss. The claims made during the interview—that a senior female colleague would train you and that mistakes would be accepted as long as you were willing to learn—were lies. The boss and colleagues act very much according to their moods, so you have to stay alert and take everyone’s feelings into consideration at all times in order to survive. Constant rework led to a great deal of overtime. Since the problems were never resolved, I ultimately chose to resign.
