I did not actually work there for long, so I will not say much. However, during the interview, the boss forced employees to respond in Taiwanese (the position applied for was an overseas sales role, not a driver or production worker). In this respect alone, the boss does not seem to be particularly respectful of employees. I have no objection to speaking Taiwanese myself, and I do not favor any particular political party, nor have I ever voted for the Kuomintang. However, I believe that speaking Mandarin with employees who are not familiar with Southern Min is the minimum level of respect (unless the job requires good Taiwanese skills in order to adapt; clearly, requiring excellent Taiwanese for an overseas sales position is far-fetched). This would be different if the person genuinely had difficulty using Mandarin, but it was obvious that this boss had no problem communicating in Mandarin. The questions asked during the interview were also very superficial and completely lacking in logic; everything was based entirely on subjective judgments. It is hard to imagine that this could be a very good company. I have also never heard any positive comments from other employees who worked there.
