None; the interviewer showed extreme disrespect toward the job applicant.
The position I interviewed for was a business role at one of the company’s plants in Southeast Asia (I had no relevant work experience). I arrived at the agreed-upon interview time, but waited in the conference room for over an hour. During the wait, employees would occasionally come in to check on me (did they also think their manager was being ridiculous?). After the two great interviewers finally came in, one of them (A) immediately asked whether I had a local ID. I said no, that I only had Taiwanese nationality (I had written this on my résumé, so I assume they hadn’t read it). He immediately put on an expression that clearly said, “Oh, then there’s no need to continue.” Just as things became awkward, the other interviewer (B) spoke up: “It’s fine; they’ve come all this way, so let’s talk and see how it goes.” He then asked me to introduce myself. Before I had finished even half of my introduction, (B) interrupted me and said that there was a problem with my logic and communication skills, asking why I couldn’t just be brief. Then, after seeing that my résumé said I was proficient in English (even though the job posting did not require English), he asked me to introduce my military service experience in English. This time I kept it very short (how much can one really say about military service...?). Then his boss said he would give me five minutes, but I spoke for only two and a half, so I failed. He then began talking about how capable and logical his mainland Chinese subordinates were, and complained that he didn’t speak the local language; otherwise, he would really like to communicate with the local employees himself. At the end, he said, “We’ll give you another opportunity to interview next time. Would you like to come?”
