The boss is fairly nice and quite willing to give people opportunities (though, in hindsight, it may have been because they were understaffed and urgently looking for someone to fill in).
There are occasional employee dinners, and the food is pretty good.
You get compensatory leave for overtime. The boss doesn’t stop you from taking time off, and there’s really nothing to complain about when it comes to requesting leave.
1. The boss isn’t particularly knowledgeable about marketing. It feels like some business relationships are being sustained through personal connections.
2. For overtime, they’ll only pay you for eight hours of overtime per month... So for the rest, either take compensatory leave or just accept it quietly as a freebie for the company (the company’s administrative staff also said the boss can modify your clock-in and clock-out records... I’ve never had mine changed, so I wouldn’t know).
3. An insane amount of overtime (though that’s how this industry is).
4. If you’re full of passion and ideals and have innovative ideas you want to bring to life, it may be difficult to fully utilize your potential. Senior colleagues said that, to save on the process of pitching proposals to clients, the boss sometimes makes minor adjustments to last year’s events and reuses them this year (I did indeed hear journalists complain that it was almost the same as last year).
5. The media journalist list is never updated.... Someone may have already moved to Company B, but you’re still addressing them using their title at Company A. It’s unbearably awkward.
