I had previously submitted my résumé to ASUS, and an HR representative called me personally to say that there was a certain position that seemed suitable and to arrange an interview.
At the time, I was a university student looking for a part-time job. My résumé stated that I was only looking for part-time work, with a schedule of about three days per week, and my education status was listed as currently enrolled.
During the interview, the HR representative conducted the initial screening and asked many questions. I felt that many of the personal questions were unnecessary, including several inquiries about family privacy, such as my parents’ situation and marital status. I personally felt very uncomfortable.
The most outrageous part was that the second interview was with a supervisor, who arrived nearly half an hour after making me wait. After sitting down, the supervisor asked how I had time to work when I was still studying. I explained that I was applying for part-time work and could work three days a week, or on Saturdays and Sundays. The supervisor immediately said they were looking for a full-time employee and that I might not be suitable. After talking for less than three minutes, they sent me away.
Didn’t the HR representative and supervisor look at my résumé beforehand? ASUS itself had contacted me, yet they invited me to an interview even though the schedule clearly wasn’t suitable. It was really ridiculous. It felt like the HR representative was simply looking for people to fill interview slots, and the overall experience was extremely unpleasant.
