Company policies change constantly, and employee turnover is high. The people who manage to stay are either highly skilled at flattering their superiors or have personal connections behind the scenes. Those at the top talk endlessly about benevolence, righteousness, morality, and ethics, while the student workers below naively work themselves to death. They prey on the mindset of us newcomers to the workforce, who are afraid to resist and are easy to bully.
They threaten to sue you at the slightest opportunity, using either fabricated accusations or making up a lie that everything is your fault. These are the standard tactics of this company.
