品咖媒體科技股份有限公司
Pros

1. Most of my colleagues are very nice, and most of them are quite young (the youngest was born in 1995).

2. It is very easy to take leave.

Cons

1. The manager is Korean. Although they can speak Chinese, communication is extremely difficult. They pretend to understand things they do not, so it is basically impossible to communicate. If you express an opposing opinion, you will be targeted and pushed out of the company. Once the manager dislikes you, you can expect to be dismissed. (I have not been at the company long, but I heard that more than ten people have already left, even though the company was established only about two years ago.)

2. Moreover, the entire company is structured around having no managers, so in effect you have no opportunity for promotion. You just work as an editor until you die.

3. The starting salary is NT$35,000, with few requirements. As long as you do not have much work experience, you are fine. (The manager likes people with a blank slate, so those with a lot of work experience are actually less likely to get hired.)

4. There is no year-end bonus, so the salary is actually relatively lower than at other places.

5. The manager has very clear likes and dislikes and is extremely unfair toward people they like. You will see many unfair things at this company.

6. The manager keeps saying that the company is not making money and is losing money, making everyone anxious, while constantly wasting money on unnecessary things.

7. The manager is very good at sowing discord: speaking badly about B in front of A and criticizing A in front of B.

8. Apparently, there is a major boss above the manager. They seem useless and unable to do anything, and the manager often curses them.

9. Projects you create will first be rejected by the manager, and then taken over by the manager, who will claim the credit as their own.

10. The manager really likes reporting other media outlets, while also engaging in illegal activities themselves.

11. The manager is very calculating and never scolds people to their face, but manipulates things behind their backs. You need to be careful, because once the manager dislikes you, there is no going back.

12. If you are lucky enough for the manager to like you, they may call you a “junior manager” (that is what the manager means), but your salary will not increase, and you will have to do a great deal of pointless work. Whenever something goes wrong, you will be the first person they call in to scold.

13. During a meeting, I once heard the manager ask a colleague’s Korean boyfriend (who was not an employee of the company) to help send an email to a Taiwanese TV station reporting that a certain media company was using Korean material, simply because they wanted to bring that media company down.

14. There is too much to say—it really cannot all be put into words. If you are an obedient, meek person, you might consider coming here to be abused.
