Pros
Applied for the English-speaking assistant position for the sleeping bag division
Process: 1. Chinese-English translation test 2. Terminology explanation 3. Expectations/impressions of the job & biggest concerns
Overtime
There is no regular overtime.
Overtime is only more likely during the busy season (September–February).
Business trips
I would accompany customers on a business trip to a factory about once a month (approximately one week each time).
The company covers meals, accommodation, and transportation for business trips.
Leave
Taking leave depends on the supervisor’s management style.
The supervisor who interviewed me has a relatively open-minded management style.
As long as it is discussed and coordinated in advance, consecutive days off can be taken.
However, it is also possible that I may need to send emails and work progress updates during my leave.
Salary/Career development
Starting salary: NT$32,000 for bachelor’s degree holders / NT$34,000 for master’s degree holders
Salary adjustments depend on the company’s overall revenue and performance.
Based on performance, an assistant may be promoted to a sales position; in principle, the focus is on developing assistants into sales staff.
Products
1. Sleeping bags
2. Garments
3. Fabric sourcing
Customers are mostly outdoor sports brands.
Sales roles are divided into order follow-up and business development.
Environment
It is not a newly renovated building,
but it is not especially frightening either.
It has the appearance of an older building.
The supervisor who interviewed me seemed very easy to get along with, and the interview conversation was pleasant overall.
Since the general manager was not present, I did not interview with them (to be continued).
1. There is no business-trip allowance.
2. A two-year contract must be signed. If you leave before the contract ends, you must repay the company’s training costs, prorated according to the remaining contract period.
3. The work atmosphere is relatively businesslike. Everyone focuses on their work, so there is not much joking or ordering afternoon tea together.
4. Training includes a one-month internship at the Xiamen factory to learn how to make sleeping bags (there will be no other work assignments during this period).
5. Since the company is relatively small to medium-sized, its policies and procedures are more flexible, with no special rigid requirements.
