1. It's bad enough that salaries are paid by check, but they also delay payroll. Although payday is supposed to be the fifth, they always wait until the banks have closed on the fifth to issue the checks. If the fifth falls on a Friday, you have to wait until the afternoon of the eighth to receive the check, which means you won't be able to cash it until the ninth.
2. No overtime pay, and taking compensatory time off depends on the employer's discretion.
