The workload is somewhat light, the relatively limited range of furniture items makes it easier to get started, and the pay is fairly good.
▲ When I first went for the interview, I couldn't find the company sign (it was in a residential area). Inside, it was simply a home's living room with three or four office desks.
▲ The interview was in the morning, but there wasn't a single employee there—only the boss conducted the interview. Toward the end of the interview, I asked whether there were any other employees. The boss only replied, “The other ladies went out to do sales.”
▲ It wasn't until I officially started work the next day that I found out there was only one female employee inside (?!). I asked her privately and learned that she was an assistant who also handled accounting... (Later, a female student worker joined as well.)
▲ Although the position was advertised as a sales assistant, it was really an office clerk role (answering calls, preparing quotations, arranging shipments, drawing simple floor plans, and so on all day).
▲ Because it was also the owner's home, the owner's wife stayed in the adjacent room every day. However, whenever employees had nothing to do and chatted or joked around, she would secretly listen in and watch them. She would also try to drive wedges between the employees.
▲ It wasn't long before I learned that six assistants had already left before me, and none of them had stayed for more than three months. They were dismissed without notice and told not to come in the next day (I was no exception).
▲ The boss only recruits female employees under 30 who are slim; “men are not accepted.”
