I worked here as a tutor.
Here is a summary of my experience with this company.
Poor administrative efficiency: Every time you need to do something simple, you have to go through several different contacts. When I arrived at a tutoring student’s home, I discovered that the hours supposedly given to the parents for free had not actually been used up, even though the company had repeatedly claimed they were. Previously, when I went for an interview, one person said the address was on Chongqing North Road. I couldn’t find it at all when I got there, and only then did another person say it was on Chongqing South Road—while acting as if I were the one who had been late.
Low employee quality: Some people didn’t even know how to copy and paste on a computer. The interviewers’ appearance and communication skills were completely unacceptable, and after the interview they still spent one or two hours talking to you about pointless things such as their teaching philosophy.
A pile of meaningless procedures: After the interview, you also have to conduct a trial lesson for them. I wanted to do it by video, but their internet connection was so terrible that a task that should have taken 10 minutes ended up taking half an hour.
No SOP: Whatever they say goes, and their way of handling things is different every time an issue comes up.
Extremely low pay: During the tutoring hours they give to parents for free, tutors have to prepare for every lesson each week, write up lesson progress reports, record teaching videos, and have the parents sign a certain form after every lesson. The hourly rate is only NT$300, and to get paid, you have to take the forms to their company before you can collect your money.
Poor teaching materials: They lack quality and substance. I think even public-school textbooks might be better.
In short, whether you are a parent, a student, or someone looking for a tutor, I really do not recommend this company.
