Can be humiliated
1. After completing the company’s training, assist the Contract Department in conducting policyholder field interviews and financial-status investigations.
2. The work is time-sensitive and requires meeting the policyholder in person.
3. Participation in company and regional-division activities.
This is the job description above. Three brief lines.
1. More than one year of experience in insurance-related work is preferred.
2. Candidates who are enthusiastic, willing to help others, resilient under pressure, and highly cooperative are preferred.
These are the job requirements listed above, in two brief lines.
There are no other requirements and no other information. No one would be able to tell that this is a garbage company—you’re expected to provide your own “car” just to go to work! You read that right: they expect you to have your own car, yet they didn’t even mention it on the website!
It’s as if you showed up for an interview only to discover that the company tells you the position doesn’t exist, making the applicant take a pointless trip!
The entire interview process was extremely brief—definitely no more than five minutes. No matter how much time we applicants had spent preparing and doing our homework beforehand, and no matter how polite we were during the interview, none of it was useful. This “Vice President Lin” was simply there to waste your time!
At the beginning of the interview, I introduced myself very politely and thought everything was proceeding smoothly.
Then this “Vice President Lin” first briefly asked about the duties of my previous job and the area where I lived.
Next, he suddenly changed the subject and asked me, “Can you drive?”
I said, “Yes.”
He then asked, “So what do you normally use for transportation?”
“I ride a scooter.”
At that point, an incredulous expression appeared on his face. He then said that this position required traveling all over the country, from north to south, and that the company “does not provide” a company vehicle (how shameless), only a fuel allowance!
So it was all just a setup! I’m the one who should be incredulous! Nowadays, do you need to provide your own car just to find a job? Should I also help you find a wife and a house while I’m at it??
So how did the interview end? Vice President Lin asked me, “Since you don’t have a car, do you think there’s any need to continue the interview?”
I answered, “If your company doesn’t have another suitable position for me, then I suppose there’s no need to continue.”
I had no choice but to leave disappointed.
With the economy in a downturn, garbage companies are becoming increasingly brazen. If having your own car is required for the job, okay, I have no objection—but you didn’t even clearly state this requirement in the job listing, and instead tricked applicants into showing up for an interview. The applicant spends an hour just commuting there and back, you give them a five-minute interview, then try to force them to provide their own car and humiliate them. Is this how you think this “Vice President Lin” should treat people while wasting their time?!
No wonder he came from a sales background—he really is extremely pragmatic!
