Pros

Well-known; having a major company on your résumé

Cons

Basically, it is a company that survives by exploiting its employees.

You are treated with very little respect during the interview.

They look at your résumé and ask about your previous company and reasons for leaving.

HR asks the same thing once, the technical supervisor asks again, and then the department manager asks yet again.

Even when an interview time has been scheduled and you arrive punctually, they still make you wait because the supervisor is in a meeting.

They use a few days of summer leave to offset the employee travel benefit, but this is basically just an illusion.

Three-fifths of the leave is deducted from overtime hours accumulated on weekdays, which is effectively unpaid overtime.

They claim to pay overtime according to the Labor Standards Act, but although overtime pay is supposed to be calculated at different rates, leave hours are offset on a one-to-one basis.

As a result, by the end of the month, you always feel that your overtime hours (and overtime pay) are less than expected.

In short, this is a company that is scheming and calculating in many ways.

Job duties (although they depend on the department)

Basically, people who are unfamiliar with the work lead those who are knowledgeable. Those above refuse to let those below handle things, simply because they want to do it their way.

Employees spend a great deal of time placating supervisors instead of doing their actual work well.

The supervisor is satisfied, but the resulting work generally cannot be used directly.

Then you continue spending time doing the work that actually needs to be done, but most of your time has already been wasted. A waste of your life.

During the interview, they will basically ask about your tolerance for overtime.

But they will not state it directly: the company actually has a mandatory overtime requirement.

They explicitly set the desired number of overtime hours, and if you do not meet it, you will be questioned.

Although there are also employees who pretend not to notice, this is definitely not a healthy work cycle.

Work schedules are basically arranged on the assumption that overtime will be required.

Whether you complete the overtime at work or at home, you are basically left to figure it out yourself.

As for the number of overtime hours required... all I can say is that getting up, going to work, getting off work, showering, and sleeping will be your life every day.

As for salary, the fact is that it is basically on the low side.

New graduates might consider it as a way to get a well-known company on their résumé.

Unless you are joining directly at a senior level, career changers should not consider it.

For technical employees with several years of experience, they will push your salary down to nearly a new graduate's level when you join.

The salary discussed even includes the perfect-attendance “bonus”; for the rest, they will require you to work overtime to return to the salary level of your previous job.

After deducting labor and health insurance, the summer-leave hours, and employee welfare committee fees,

you will definitely find that the salary is less than expected unless you devote your body, mind, and soul to the company.

Simply put:

Think carefully before joining.
