Pros

- The supervisor is often not at the company.

- During the proposal process, they mostly provided positive encouragement instead of criticism.

- The company follows the Labor Standards Act and does not encourage overtime.

- During the interview, the supervisor mentioned being willing to train newcomers (although they themselves had no experience in this industry).

Cons

In addition to its advertising division, the company also operates a construction company. It is a family-owned business with only five employees, including the owner.

During the interview, the supervisor (the owner's wife) mentioned that the company's business mainly consists of tender projects, and explained that all the previous employees had left because they did not get along.

When I agreed to work for the company, there were no senior employees. On my first day, another employee joined the company on the same day as me.

- It was often impossible to contact the supervisor. Since my coworker and I were both newcomers, we needed to discuss and obtain the supervisor's approval for the details of many projects. When the supervisor could not be reached, we could only figure things out ourselves. However, when we submitted the work, it would be immediately rejected.

- The supervisor clearly had no practical experience carrying out tender projects, yet led us through the work without any planning. They told my coworker and me that most of our work was wrong and asked us to trust them, repeatedly causing us to work overtime.

- A tender project should be handled by five or six people, but the company hired only my coworker and me. The scope of the projects we handled was as large as the workload for five or six people. The supervisor also frequently told us that, before the previous employees left, this project only required one person to handle.

- Because these were tender projects, the work had to be completed by the deadline, requiring overtime at any time, including late at night. It was treated as a responsibility-based position with no fixed working hours.

- We began preparing the proposal as soon as we joined the company, with the goal of winning the tender. Then, just as the tender project was nearing completion, on the day we submitted the acceptance report and before the end of the workday, my coworker and I were dismissed without warning.

This company appears to take advantage of newcomers: it recruits new employees when it has projects and dismisses them when the projects end. It is a vicious cycle, and apparently there is no law that can penalize them.

The reasons given for dismissing employees were unreasonable, including hygiene and tidiness, rushing to leave work, and a high error rate (the errors resulted from incorrect instructions given by the supervisor). Finally, they changed the explanation to say that my coworker and I were incompatible with the company's atmosphere.

They took advantage of the rule that new employees do not have to be given ten days' advance notice of dismissal within their first three months. During the last thirty minutes before the end of the workday, they asked my coworker and me to shut down our computers immediately and come to the office for a meeting. They intercepted the files we had produced at the end and exploited us to the very last moment.

On the day we were dismissed, they also said that the company followed the Labor Standards Act in everything, and that if we wanted to discuss the law, we could not win against them. They were clearly exploiting loopholes in the law.

I urge recent graduates and newcomers to the workforce to be cautious about this advertising company.
