Improve English reading skills.
1. Working hours start at 9:00 a.m. During the interview, I was told there was a five-minute late-arrival grace period, meaning I had to enter the office and clock in by 9:05 a.m. In practice, after working for a week, I was told that I should clock in at around 8:40 a.m. (The company is located on the 7th floor of a building. To get to work, you first have to press the doorbell and ask someone to open the building’s first-floor entrance, then press another doorbell at the office entrance before you can enter the office and clock in.)
2. Leaving work is subject to a duty-based system. If you need to go to the post office, you must wait until the end of working hours and clock out before going to the post office.
3. The assistant’s duties include operating the switchboard, reception, counting words for online translation projects and preparing quotations, taking out the garbage, going to the post office, handwriting invoices, writing blog posts, and handling tasks assigned by supervisors.
4. If you are suddenly asked to enter the office alone before the end of the workday, you may be asked to sign your “resignation application.” You will be required not to bring your phone inside, but you cannot leave that office without signing.
5. There are approximately six full-time employees in the office. Except for certain employees, most have been with the company for less than three months.
*During my employment, the company’s address was 7F, No. 129-2, Section 2, Xinsheng North Road, Zhongshan District, Taipei City.
