Pros

Because it’s a newly established company, you’re free to be creative and take things in any direction.

The boss has a good eye for selecting people, so the colleagues are all good too.

Cons

1. At present, the office is located in the boss’s home. It is a three-bedroom, two-living-room apartment with the living room partitioned off as an office.

2. The boss openly stated that, in addition to surveillance cameras, pinhole cameras had also been installed. She said it was to protect employees, but in reality it was simply to monitor them.

3. Because it is a newly established company, the position you apply for does not necessarily correspond to the work you will actually do after joining. Sometimes you are inexplicably assigned to a completely different role.

4. The boss says that everything is open to discussion, but in the end you can only do things her way. Even when there is clearly very little preparation time left, she still insists on having things done her way!

5. Sometimes, when I saw the boss discussing business with others in the office, I felt that she was talking complete nonsense. But she insisted that she was not stealing, robbing, or breaking the law. Still, where was the integrity? Of course, she also expected employees to do the same.

6. When the boss was desperate, she could say anything. Although she often talked about how many companies she had abroad, when short-staffed and pressed for time, she would promise any conditions. However, given her usual way of doing things, it was genuinely hard to imagine whether she would honor those promises.

7. After being hired, employees were told to bring their ID cards when reporting for duty. However, she never actually asked employees to present their ID cards, nor did she enroll them in insurance. When asked about it later, the response was that the employees had not proactively taken out their ID cards, and that the boss was so busy that she could not possibly have noticed such things. She said it was entirely the employees’ fault, adding, “If you don’t stand up for your own rights, how can Taiwanese people be so servile?”

P.S. Although the boss is Taiwanese, she immigrated to Canada many years ago and has worked in mainland China and Canada for 20 years. She is unfamiliar with Taiwan’s market and looks down on this small-population market because her sights are set on mainland China! She constantly says that she is a perennial winner and has never failed, so following her means you will definitely not lose out, and the stage at this company is a big one!

But most importantly, if the most basic sense of security for employees is not taken into consideration, how can anyone talk about the future?!

People with high hopes and expectations for the future, who want to keep challenging the impossible, can come and give this stage a try.
