Applied for an e-commerce PM position
The interview was held at a small guest table by the entrance (ugh), so while waiting, I overheard an interview for the Marketing Department. The interviewers from that department had a great attitude and communicated very well. Unfortunately, they were worlds apart from my interviewer XD
I didn’t click with the interviewer, and they didn’t seem very interested in talking (although HR said they had shown my application to the hiring manager first before inviting me to interview)...
1. The Product Department’s mindset is: These group-buying websites are meant to make money. If they can effectively bring in revenue, UX and aesthetics can step aside.
2. The design process is for the PM to plan everything and then pass it directly to the F2E.
3. They release updates twice a week, and switch projects extremely quickly. “Because the market changes in the blink of an eye, the founder will modify the direction in real time,” according to the PM interviewer.
It’s not difficult to understand that their current website—and probably for some time in the future—may continue to look that way. Anyone interviewing with the intention of improving their website experience should be mentally prepared.
