Pros

The part of the interview with HR felt very good. HR explained the company’s organization, employee benefits, and the job description very clearly, and was also very friendly.

Cons

I suggest that management be understanding toward interviewees who are late because heavy rain has caused severe traffic congestion.

My personal case: I left home by car approximately two hours early, well before the scheduled interview time of 10:00 a.m. However, I still arrived nearly 30 minutes later than scheduled. While driving toward Taipei City, I realized only after getting onto the elevated roadway that the major routes from my home into Taipei City—the Zhongxiao Bridge and the expressway—were already severely congested. I urgently contacted HR to ask to postpone the interview by half an hour, then immediately exited the elevated roadway, turned back, and took the Airport MRT, transferring to the Wenhu Line. From the MRT station, I ran through the heavy rain with an umbrella, leaving my lower body, shoes, and socks almost completely soaked. This was the most disheveled I have ever been for an interview in my career.

HR had initially given me hope that I might have an opportunity to interview with management as well. Unexpectedly, that afternoon I received notification that management had refused to give me a second-round interview because I was 30 minutes late. If this is the company’s policy and there is no room for discussion—namely, that late interviewees are not accepted regardless of the reason—then in the future, when an interviewee arrives late at the company or calls to request a postponement, please have HR immediately inform them of this policy. I believe this would save both parties’ time. Thank you~
