宣禹實業股份有限公司
Pros

1. The office environment is pretty good (because clients often visit).

2. They like hiring fresh university graduates and are willing to give young people opportunities. It is actually quite suitable for fresh graduates to join, as you can learn a lot, such as taking orders, shipping, sending samples, communicating with clients, overseas business trips, etc. It is on-the-job training (but you have to ask questions proactively). The senior colleagues are fairly good; even when busy, they will let you ask questions. However, you must be very tolerant of the company’s systems and culture. It is very suitable as a stepping stone (in traditional industry).

3. The atmosphere among colleagues is fairly good, and there is no backstabbing.

4. Overtime is paid, but it is only calculated after 30 minutes, and the amount is not much.

Cons

(Average) There are both good and bad points.

1. Overseas exhibitions require traveling for the entire day. After returning to the hotel after work each day, you still have to immediately write a report to report back to Taiwan.

Disadvantages:

1. The salary discussed during the interview is ambiguous and contains traps. For example, “the salary may be adjusted based on performance after three months” means that they raise your salary while lowering someone else’s; conversely, they may lower yours while raising someone else’s.

2. The reported salary is lower than the actual salary. They remit an amount lower than NT$22,000, with the rest paid in a cash envelope (described as bonuses and overtime pay). The possible reasons are:

A. This makes it easier to lower your salary in the future. (Under the Labor Standards Act, the agreed-upon labor salary cannot be reduced.)

B. Labor insurance is naturally enrolled at an amount lower than NT$22,000. This allows them to legally lower your salary in the future without being penalized by labor inspectors, while also reducing taxes, labor-insurance costs, and the 6% labor-pension contribution.

3. They often ask on Friday who is coming to work the next day, Saturday. (P.S. If overtime is really required, why not schedule it a month in advance? If you expect your employees to be people who plan ahead, why interrupt the Saturday-and-Sunday plans they arranged early?)

4. Because of the time difference with overseas clients, you often receive many instructions and tasks just before the end of the workday. (Then why not follow other companies’ practice of flexible hours, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m.?)

5. Overtime is required every day until 8 or 9 p.m. (Although this is mentioned during the interview.)

6. They interrupt ongoing work over trivial matters—for example, suddenly gathering everyone to question each person about who made the environment dirty. (Remember, at most, other companies would post a notice reminding employees to pay attention.)

7. Even when it is almost time to leave, they gather everyone and summon them for a reprimand, again over a minor matter.

8. The top boss will scold managers in front of everyone, or employees who are negotiating work, completely disregarding the dignity of managers and employees who forgot proper etiquette because of important work.

9. They seem highly suspicious. Client names are referred to by code and cannot be disclosed to other departments. For example, sales cannot let purchasing know the client’s name, and purchasing cannot let sales know the supplier’s name. If the two sides accidentally find out, it is treated as a very serious matter.

10. If you make a mistake, you must write a self-reflection report.

11. They prefer hiring foreign workers because foreign workers only require an additional NT$300 per day for overtime, whereas local Taiwanese workers cost more.

12. Someone wrote “going out with family for fun” as the reason for taking leave, and the top boss became angry, so everyone was gathered for a meeting to review the matter.

Overall, because the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, the rating is “poor.”
