嘉義縣私立協志高級工商職業學校
Pros

1. Colleagues get along well and generally help one another, but you need to find the right people—the more low-key, the better.

2. Salaries are paid on time.

3. The salary is good by Chiayi standards, but considerably lower than that of other private schools.

4. The relationship between teachers and students is good, depending on the teacher’s approach.

5. Birthday cakes and gift vouchers for the three major holidays (around NT$1,000).

Cons

1. The administrators do not endorse or take responsibility for policies. Poor enrollment is blamed on teachers rather than on policy.

2. Official statements concerning certain important issues should be listened to with careful consideration.

3. Be careful about personal-data issues related to student recruitment, especially regarding the sources of the data. If something happens, the administrators will not protect the teachers.

4. There are too many vague meetings. The recruitment period lasts more than half a year, and during the two-month peak period, employees stay behind for meetings two to four days a week. Meetings held once per semester by certain departments may continue until 9 or 10 p.m.

5. Home visits are extremely frequent. During the first semester, you must visit all of your own students’ homes; during the second semester, the visits are for recruitment. If you are an honest worker, your workday is approximately 14 hours (7:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m., or even longer).

6. Administrative and recruitment duties are complicated and abundant, taking up more time than lesson preparation and student counseling.

7. There is no year-end bonus, no bonus for the three major holidays, low transportation subsidies for recruitment, and recruitment bonuses are only available starting from the fourth recruit.

8. LINE group messages assigning work keep coming nonstop.

9. Weekend recruitment and weekend duty are required. Homeroom teacher pay is low, one person may be assigned two homeroom classes, and overtime teaching pay is lower than the hourly rate for junior high schools.

10. There is no long-term vision, which is unfavorable to young people’s development.

11. Legal awareness is generally insufficient.
