I have to say, some colleagues are really easy to get along with.
I suddenly dreamed yesterday that I was outside a cram school somewhere in Nanzih, across from Gouchang Junior High School. Curious, I walked closer and discovered that my colleagues inside were talking. I leaned my ear closer and found that...
1. The salary listed on the website as 3XK is the base salary plus a full amount of substitute-teaching fees (provided you stay until the end). Don't foolishly assume that the base salary is 3XK and go there thinking, “Wow, that's so high.” I wonder how many people have been tricked into going there, haha.
2. There was someone—I can't remember whether it was a “supervisor” or a teacher—who had extremely poor emotional control. They scolded students in public without considering the students' self-esteem at all, and even threw things at students who were talking in class. How humiliating. They even shamelessly recounted the incident, as if it were something impressive?
3. Someone kept boasting that they were a teacher at a certain elementary school, that their main job was selling insurance, and that they earned so-and-so much per month, claiming they came here only to repay a favor.... While talking, their eyes kept darting around. I had no idea what they were feeling guilty about. Were they making it all up? That's my guess.
4. One instructor once said that providing special one-on-one tutoring to students with relatively poor grades had a very low “cost-performance ratio,” and told people not to waste time on those students. That student often couldn't keep up with the tutoring, which was precisely why they needed individual instruction, but they said not to do it, so the student's grades did not improve. Now the student is about to leave the class. If the parents knew that this was the teacher's attitude, they would be furious, haha. Students come to cram school and pay precisely because their grades are poor, yet the teacher says that their grades are too bad and their “cost-performance ratio” is too low.... Are students products? Everyone pays the same amount, yet receives differential treatment.
5. Regarding the person mentioned above, someone who works in the cram-school industry but only talks about money truly does not deserve to be called an “educator.” Do they even understand what “education” means? They produce a group of students who can only solve problems but do not understand why they are solving them, and afterward they will only become as “ignorant” as you are.
Suddenly, an employee beside me blurted out: “It's not that I lack the ability to do this work; I simply disdain doing it here. Some people don't deserve to be called ‘teachers’ at all. Calling them ‘problem-solving clerks’ would be more appropriate. A so-called teacher should impart knowledge, teach skills, and resolve doubts. All you do from beginning to end is resolve doubts, so don't call yourself a teacher. You disgrace the title of teacher. From beginning to end, you judge everything by scores: if your grades are poor, you're a bad student; if your grades are good, then everything is fine.” After saying that, they resigned on the spot.....
I was frightened by this scene and woke up with a start, only to realize that it had all been a dream.. Sigh, what a realistic dream!!!
