The store manager is good with words and skilled at presenting things in ways that benefit himself, but he never follows through on anything he promises employees. I worked there for over a year and never once saw the so-called bonus appear in my account. Whenever he made a mistake, he used employees as scapegoats; everything was always the employees’ fault. He also loved making empty promises to customers. Aside from the generally relaxed working hours, there is little room for growth or learning (although he constantly tells you to learn). He forces employees to follow the concepts of Scientology courses, which was very uncomfortable for me as someone who already has a personal religion.
Finally, this industry has been declining significantly, and the owner already seems to be considering closing the business, so the future is rather uncertain. Moreover, 巨擘 ultimately has to depend on the vendors’ goodwill, which often results in customers being unable to get their books and causing problems. (In addition, the store manager has offended quite a few vendors, and many vendors have a very poor attitude toward 巨擘’s orders.) Think carefully before applying, or consider larger, more stable companies such as New Moon Books or Eurasia Books.
