The interview on 2017/7/3 was for a (Senior Graphic Designer/Senior Visual Merchandising Designer) position.
When I arrived for the interview, I found that the person they were primarily looking for was actually a marketing planner. The main issue was that when the manager came over, they had only just looked at my résumé and then said that I couldn't apply for the senior designer position. Don't they look at résumés beforehand? I had already listed my experience on it. If you had read my résumé in advance, I wouldn't have had to make this wasted trip. Throughout the interview, they kept emphasizing that the company mainly focuses on marketing and that the art editing portion accounts for only a small part. If that's the case, why not simply interview candidates for a marketing planner position? Why advertise for a graphic designer? It's completely misleading and a waste of everyone's time! Finally, the leave policy allows time off only on Saturdays and Sundays. That sounds fairly normal, but public holidays are not observed! The company doesn't take the Dragon Boat Festival or Qingming Festival holidays off, and even when a typhoon is officially declared to have suspended work and classes, there is still no day off—you still have to go to the company and clock in. Isn't that a violation of the Labor Standards Act? The interviewer even emphasized that this was one of the sacrifices required by the job. I was left completely confused.
The interviewer was also very impolite. After looking at my résumé, they blurted out, “You graduated quite a while ago and are still looking for a job. Is your family really well-off?” (The original poster graduated last year, was waiting to serve in the military, and was discharged this March.) I thought, “What does that have to do with you?!” What does this have to do with the interview?
Overall, I have no idea what kind of person this company is actually looking for. If the position they really needed was a marketing staff member, they could simply have stated at the top of the job posting that they wanted someone with marketing expertise. They wrote a whole list saying they needed someone for exhibition design and graphic design, but in the end they wanted you to plan events! It has little to do with graphic editing.
