Pros

If you’re just looking for a temporary job to get by while studying for exams, or during the gap before finding your next ideal job, the work here is simple, so it might be worth trying. However, if you have aspirations for your career, you should probably look elsewhere.

Cons

1. Company policies: Although the position is nominally an electromechanical technician, the benefits are the same as those offered by a security company. The company does not comply with the Labor Standards Act. Basically, aside from the agreed-upon salary, labor and health insurance, and the 6% labor pension contribution, there are no other benefits. The company does not insure you based on your full salary (the agreed-upon salary), but only on the basic salary—high salary, low insurance reporting.

2. Work and leave system: Four-team, three-shift rotation: work 6 days, rest 2... work 6, rest 2... work 6, rest 2, rotating continuously. If a workday falls on a national holiday, annual leave, or even a typhoon day, there is no additional overtime pay or compensatory leave. When covering someone else’s shift, regardless of how many hours you work, you receive only NT$120 per hour—NT$240 for 2 hours, and so on. There is no 1.33x or 1.66x overtime rate.

3. Benefits: The job listing says there are 1–2 health examinations per year... Sometimes there is one, and then there are no more. If shift work causes health problems, you’re left to fend for yourself. Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and birthday gifts are fruit gift boxes or cup sets. I’ve never encountered marriage, funeral, or other celebration subsidies, so I don’t know about those. Outstanding employee trips... haha—nothing like that. Year-end bonus and banquet... The year-end bonus depends on how long you’ve worked there and amounts to only a few thousand, so don’t expect much. As for the year-end banquet, senior company management eats, while you get NT$200 to attend the banquet. Club activities... What are those? There’s no such thing. Also, after working for a full year, there is no such thing as annual leave. Additionally, if your shift happens to fall on Lunar New Year’s Eve, you get only NT$300. From Lunar New Year’s Day through the fifth day, it’s treated just like a regular workday—haha.
